John C. Nichols, MD
Assistant Professor As a board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. John Nichols has special interests in comprehensive eye disease, including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and cataract surgery. Dr. Nichols received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and completed his residency at the Saint Louis University Eye Institute. He joined the UA Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Science as a fellow in corneal and external disease in July 2001. His research interests include ocular surface disorders such as corneal epithelial limbal stem cell deficiency, the physiology of dry eye conditions, and corneal wound healing. Dr. Nichols' time is split between research and comprehensive ophthalmology. He is also receiving additional clinical training in cornea external disease. Dr. Nichols is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery. |
