UVEITIS |
|
The Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Science offers diagnosis and treatment for special inflammatory eye conditions such as uveitis. Uveitis is an inflammatory condition of the inside of the eye. It may be caused by an injury to the eye or by an infection inside the eye but is commonly caused by an autoimmune process. Uveitis usually affects people between the ages of 20-50 years old. Uveitis is a serious condition that requires medical therapy in order to prevent more serious complications resulting in vision loss. Treatment for uveitis is dependent upon the severity of the disease and the ocular structures involved. Our Ophthalmologists have specialized training in the treatment of uveitis and the use of steroid drops, pills, injections and immunosuppressive medicines to put the condition in “remission.” If you experience one or more of the following symptoms, you should see an eye specialist. The following symptoms may come on suddenly and may not necessarily mean that you have uveitis but you should still seek medical attention by an ophthalmologist. Call our scheduling desk at (520) 694-1460 should you need medical attention. We reserve “same day” appointments for urgent eye conditions. |
