Dr. Velma
Dobson
Director
vdobson@eyes.arizona.edu
Dr. Dobson is an experimental psychologist who
specializes in the assessment of vision in infants and young
children. After receiving her Ph.D. from Brown University, Dr.
Dobson completed post-doctoral training in visual electrophysiology
in the Department of Ophthalmology at Tufts University Medical
School and in assessment of vision in infants and young children
in the Department of Psychology at the University of Washington.
Dr. Dobson joined the faculty of the University of Arizona in
1994 and holds a joint appointment in the Departments of Ophthalmology
and Vision Science, and Psychology.
Dr. Dobson is the director of visual function
testing for the National Eye Institute's Multicenter Study for
Early Treatment for Retinopathy of Prematurity. Dr. Dobson was
one of the developers of the Teller Acuity Card procedure, a
widely-used method for measurement of visual acuity in infants
and multiply handicapped individuals. She is also a Co-Investigator
on the "Amblyopia in Astigmatic Children - Development
and Treatment" grants sponsored by the National Eye Institute. |

Dr. Erin
Harvey
Associate Professor
Dr. Erin Harvey is an experimental psychologist
who specializes in the study of visual perception and visual
development in infants and young children. Dr. Harvey is currently
Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Vision Science, with
a joint appointment in the College of Public Health. She is
the Director of the Tohono O’Odham Vision Screening Program
(TOVSP) and Principal Investigator of the National Eye Institute
grant titled “Amblyopia in Astigmatic Children – Development
and Treatment”, which funds the program. |

Candice
Clifford-Donaldson
Senior Research Specialist
Candice Clifford-Donaldson has a Bachelor’s degree
in Anthropology and a Master’s degree in Public Health from
the University of Arizona. Candice conducts vision testing of
infants and young children. She is skilled in the use of a variety
of instruments for measurement of refractive error and in the
measurement of visual acuity using both grating targets and
letter or symbol targets.

Tina
Leonard Green
Research Specialist
Tina Leonard Green is a Research Specialist at
the University of Arizona. She is a Registered Dietitian who
holds a Master’s degree in Nutritional Science from the University
of Arizona. Tina conducts measurement of refractive error and
assessment of visual acuity in infants and young children.

Deborah
Hargadon
Research Specialist
Deborah Hargadon is a Research Specialist at the
University of Arizona. She has worked in the research field
here at the University for nine years. Her primary function
is as one of two vision testers for the ETROP (Early Treatment
of Retinopathy of Prematurity) study. She is responsible for
conducting vision assessments on 400+ 6 year olds who are enrolled
in the study. These children are located in 26 sites across
the country. Her secondary role is to coordinate a local study
with 100+ 6 years olds who were born full term; to establish
comparative data for the ETROP children. |

Jeffrey
A. Wood
Research Specialist
Jeffrey A. Wood, previously a certified ophthalmic
technician for the University Physicians Healthcare’s ophthalmology
clinic in Tucson, is currently a research specialist at the
University of Arizona. His primary function is as one of two
primary vision testers for the ETROP (Early Treatment of Retinopathy
of Prematurity) study. He is responsible for conducting vision
assessments on the enrolled 400+ children located in 26 sites
across the county.
