Assistant Professor J. Daniel Twelker, OD, PhD is Principal Investigator of the Tucson site of the Collaborative Longitudinal Evaluation of Ethnicity and Refractive Error (CLEERE). CLEERE is a multi-center, observational investigation of eye growth in schoolchildren. The purpose of the study is to compare and contrast normal eye growth, ocular component development, and refractive error development in Hispanic, African-American, Native American, Caucasian and Asian schoolchildren. In addition, the study investigates risk factors for the development of myopia and conducts DNA-based studies on nearsighted children and their families. |
