Our MissionThe Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Science at The University of Arizona serves to provide education, research, and service throughout the Southwest. Education: Educate medical students, residents, fellows and other professionals in the most advanced techniques available for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of eye disease. Research: Identify and investigate new methods to diagnose, treat, rehabilitate and prevent conditions that cause vision impairment and blindness. Clinical/Surgical Services–Patient Care: Provide clinical/surgical care consistent with the needs of the community, consultative services on patients referred by fellow professionals and eye care to patients who cannot afford or do not have access to these services.
